A couple of minutes after watching “The Time Traveler’s Wife” at the cinema, Chemae and I were walking outside the mall. She was saying she kinda liked the film but it really annoyed her as much as it annoyed Clare that Henry was always disappearing.
It was already dark, my arm was over her shoulder and a couple of people are also walking home from the mall.
From the moment the film ended, I kept joking that I felt myself “going,” meaning, I felt like I was about to travel through time like Henry. I’ve been thinking of a way to somehow disappear from Chemae just for laughs.
Suddenly, she said, “Ayoko talagang magkaro’n ng gano’ng asawa.” (“I really don’t wanna have a husband like that.”)
So just to make fun of her, I suddenly let go of her shoulder, went behind her and stopped walking.
It took a second for her to realize that she was already walking alone. When she turned to look at me and realized I wasn’t there, she screamed, apparently thinking I did travel through time.
I ran up to her laughing my head off as she realized what I did. She was out of breath, her chest was pounding, and she looked mightily amused at her own reaction to my prank.
Later, she said she really looked down on the ground to see if I left my clothes as I traveled through time like Henry.
I give “The Time Traveler’s Wife” 3 and a half out of 5 stars just because my girlfriend seems to really think time-traveling via Henry’s way is possible. :))
